Bateman's

Bateman's Ln, Burwash, Etchingham TN19 7DS, UK – 01435 882302

Bateman's, home to the famous Rudyard Kipling, is a fantastic experience. Its exotic gardens and magnificent views lights up its great atmosphere. You can tour the house, where you can see what it was like and interesting facts about Kipling's family and taste in interior decorations. You can even look at his Rolls Royce Phantom, purchased in 1928 for £2800 in his era. You can look at his mill, too, which isn't currently working. There is a tearoom as well, which serves a variety of drinks and snacks. I enjoyed it and with the help of my pictures you can hopefully have an approximate idea of what Bateman's appears like.

Bateman's is a country house, built in in Jacobean style, in 1634. It was the home of Rudyard Kipling from 1902 until his death in 1936. It is now a National Trust property with beautiful buildings and gardens. Inside is a museum with fascinating memorabilia from Kipling's life, including original signed documents, his Nobel Prize medal and certificates and various objects from his everyday life, such as pens and watches. You can even listen to an original gramophone recording of Mandalay. The facilities are good with plenty of car parking space.
