Rudyard Kiplings house. (National Trust) House is dark but very interesting. Gardens are beautiful and not large. Dogs permitted on (NT lead, supplied) in most of the Gardens but not in the house or restaurant. Very disappointed with restaurant. Poor selection. Soup & casserole on a hot summers day !! Or basic jacket potatoes or Welsh rarebit. Better off bringing sandwiches. Narrow lane leading to large car park. Overall worth the visit.
Set in some beautiful landscape this 17th century house is a must to visit to see how Rudyard Kipling lived and worked here, just as if he'd just walked out of the door and left everything as it was. Lovely gardens and walks around to the mill.

We had a wonderful few days relaxing down in the picturesque Sussex countryside. Fantastic accommodation in farm surroundings, both comfortable and clean. We would highly recommend it.

Great gifts of all shapes and sizes available from the shop. Very different from your typical 'garden centre'. The Cafe is lovely and cosy, food is lovely, particularly the cakes ;). Combined with the gardens and variety of plants it made for a perfect little detour on a day in the countryside.
What a delightful surprise. Bijou outpost in the country. Pea & nettle soup, toasted sandwiches, cakes & coffee. The gardens post daffodils, still a delight and the plants quite alternative.
